How To Use USM Student Email?

USM WiFi Setting Guide (Windows 7)

USM Living in Campus Guide – USM WiFi Setting Guide (Windows 7)

1.Open Network and Sharing Center

2.Manage wireless networks

3. Click ‘Add’

4. Click ‘Manually create a network profile’

5. Set the network name as ‘USMSecure’
6. Change the security type to ‘WPA2-Enterprise’
7. Change the encryption type to ‘AES’
8. Click ‘Next’

9. Click ‘Change connection settings’

10. Click ‘Settings’

11. Untick ‘Validate server certificate’
12. Click ‘Configure…’

13. Untick the column, then click ‘OK’

14. Go to Wifi, click connect to USMSecure

15. Type in your USM student mail ID and your IC number as the password
16. Then click ‘OK’

17. You are now connected to USMSecure, enjoy the Wifi

USM WiFi Setting (for Android & iOS)

Android Phone Guideline

  1. Menu > Settings
  2. Choose ‘Wireless & networks’
  3. Turn on Wi-Fi
  4. Choose Wi-Fi Settings
  5. Click USMSecure.
  6. Set a password for the credential storage (at least 8 characters).
  7. Security: Entreprise(802.1x)
    MAC address: 00:00:00:00:00:00 << (example)
    EAP method: PEAP
    Phase 2 authentication: None / MSCHAPV2
    Identity: (your USM email address, ie: cwxu.uman10@student.usm.my)
    Anonymous identity: (same with Identity)
    Wireless password: (created by yourself)
  8. Choose Connect.
  9. If it require to ‘Enter the credential storage password’, please try for 5 times, then will auto delete your default settings.
  10. Reset by repeat step 7.

iOS Setting Guideline 

  1. Connect directly to USMSecure
  2. Key in your Username & Password
  3. Get connected!

USM WiFi Setting Guide (Windows 8)

USM WiFi (USMSecure) Setting for Windows 8 is almost the same with Windows 7 (http://www.myusminfo.com/wifi/windows7)

Just to confirm the details in Encryption Type.Picture11. Main window, make sure the details same as below:
Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption type: TKIP

2. Settings
Tick ‘Specify authentication mode’
Choose ‘User authentication’

Tick the “Validate server certificate” and “connect to these servers”

 4. Configure
Untick “Automatically use my windows logon name and password”
